About Barkalot

Barkalot is a Scandinavian, digital dog brand founded in Stockholm by Amelie Westerberg and John Laster. Amelie and John wanted to reinvent the pet market by creating a strong online pawrent community. Barkalot is fully committed to responsible sourcing and offers stylish, contemporary dog pieces that transcend season and lifestyle. With attention to detail and sustainable materials, Barkalot takes a new approach to conscious dog owning.

History

Both John and Amelie has owned dogs their entire lives. They love the community aspect of dog owning, both online and offline.

"In Sweden, there's no way you would speak to a stranger on the street. Unless you have a dog! We realised there was potential to create an including, co-creative brand", says John.

The team also noticed that most products were either produced in virgin plastics or leather. They saw a gap that needed to be filled - with sustainable materials.

Apart from sourcing sustainable materials, Barkalot has committed to removing 0,5kg plastics per €100 spent in our store (through Plastic Bank).

"We're trying out a new initiative. We let our customers send back used items for a 10% discount on their next buy. We will donate the items that are in good conditions to dog shelters and the dogs that need them. Our mission is to push the pet industry towards becoming more sustainable", says Amelie.
